Natural Zeolites -  Occurrences
A Collectors Perspective
Volker Betz, Taunusstein, Germany

last minor update: November, 10, 2011

Most mineral collectors have the beautiful crystals from India in mind, if they talk about the occurrences of natural Zeolites. The reason is the large amount of specimens which came in the last decades (since about 1970) to the mineral market. But there are many other occurrences of interesting specimens. And also a vast amount of Zeolite occurrences of the other type of Natural Zeolites: Volcanic tuffs and sediments converted to microcrystalline Zeolites.  Today this are mined for technical use, or in the past used for building stones. The zeolite content of some tuffs can be very high. More information in  the link for technical use.

The zeolite locations mentioned at this web site and its links reflect my private zeolite collection and are not intended to be a complete  presentation of all locations. I show what is in my focus and I could collect, exchange or aquire in the last 40+ years. For more locations see mindat.org and Rudy Tschernich´s: Zeolites of the World.
