Vertical view - white background

White background is most easy made from a photograph with black background made with vertical setup. The background just replaced with white. Photographing with white background is not as easy,  but frequently used in commercial consumer product photography. For that purpose the object is typically put on a commercial shooting table. Illumination is made with large white lamps. To avoid gray background  or shadows the used  white ayryl glass background  is backlighted.  The same can be done with a home made setup using plain white acryl glass with a balanced back light. Balanced means the back light is stronger than the top lights, otherwise the back ground will be have some  slight grey  or colour hue.  Often it is slightly pink if the clour temperatur of the back light passing the white acryl glass background.

Epidot
Epidot from Söllnkar, Krimmler Achental, Hohe Tauern. 52 mm long.  For transparent cystals a white background is often a good choice.  But balancing the intensity ond colour temperature of the  front and backlight can be difficult. The result is often a slightly grey background.(right picture) At the left picture this grey is replaced with white. For white background in table top mode see Diffusor tunnel .
